How the Wegovy pill works

Oral semaglutide is the same molecule as the Wegovy pen. The tablet includes an absorption enhancer, so the medicine survives the stomach and enters the bloodstream.

In the OASIS 1 trial, the high-dose tablet produced an average loss of about 15% over 68 weeks. The result is comparable to the 2.4 mg pen.

Side effects match the pen: nausea, constipation, reflux and tiredness, with similar rates in trials. Read the side effects guide.

Wegovy pill doses and prices

Tablets follow the same approach as the pen. Start low, step up every 4 weeks only if tolerated, and hold where loss and comfort balance.
